LAST NIGHT I posted about my gazing at our lunar beauty in her grandeur of fullness.  It gave me pause to think that 49 years ago two men set foot and walked on that glorious globe so very far away.

I remember it well.  I had just graduated from high school and was looking forward.  But on that particular day, I and the rest of the world was looking up, as well as glued to our television sets!

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed in the moon’s Sea of Tranquility aboard the lunar module Eagle on that historic day of July 20, 1969.  A memory I shall never forget.

EVEN MORE cemented in my memory is when eleven years old, the marvel of my mom, dad, two brothers and neighbors crowded around the TV set, watching the blast off of the Mercury capsule Friendship 7, as John Glenn rocketed into space.  He became the first American to orbit Earth.   A thrill I’m sure I’ll never forget!

Future of Our Children

I can’t help but wonder what historic space event my grandchildren will be watching (or living) one day but not sure it could compare to the very first!  Well, I guess there are plenty of firsts to come.

Maybe they will be gazing at us on earth from the moon!  🙂

Please SUBSCRIBE and Stay Tuned for more memories!  I’d love to hear yours!
