We watch the devastation in Texas and worry for all in harm’s way.  We see acts of great giving and heroism for both humans and animals.   Even residents who had much loss themselves, going out of their way to help each other.  Neighbors helping neighbors. People helping strangers.  This warms our hearts.

What Can We Do?

We feel helpless.  What can we do?

Some of us who live elsewhere will have the ability to go and work at volunteers in the appropriate ways.    How marvelous!  If not in an official, organized way, people will just be in the way or can be very dangerous.

Others of us can DONATE.  It is greatly needed as the crisis continues and in the aftermath.

You can Donate here to the Red Cross to directly help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Even $10, as every dollar helps.  If each of us even did that, it would really add up!

There is Always Prayer

I believe praying for all involved is very powerful.  For those in need and all those responding.

Many are just grateful to be alive!  Here is a mother in an embrace with her daughter at a shelter.  thankfully, so far there has been only one death reported, at this writing.  The rebuilding is a huge task, but it is lives and loved ones that matter most.  But they need our help.  What lies ahead is hugely difficult.

Gratitude

My Flood:  Five years after my flood, I am finally in the finishing stages of putting my home back together.  My son has helped me with the mold, total demolition, and rebuild of many areas.  Remodel is almost completed. 

It has been difficult, as the flood occurred just two weeks prior to the loss of my darling husband, Randy.  I certainly relate to in a small amount of what these folks in Houston are going through with loss of possessions, especially irreplaceable photos and heirlooms.  As well as some loss of life and the threat of it.  It is hard to truly imagine what these folks are going through right now.

Every Day, I feel so grateful to simply still have my home to even work on – when I think of the horrible loss of so many over the last years since, where I have seen folks lose everything.  Their entire homes and possessions in one fell swoop.  What we are seeing now!   I have been very blessed with dear people who have helped me along the way in many ways.  But when the devastation is so widespread all at once, it will take more than kind neighbors, but loving strangers to help these folks.

Funny e-Cards?

I love to laugh and love to make others laugh.   I’ve seen entire audiences rolling in the isles on a production I wrote. What could be more fun than that?  Most of all, it’s gratifying to know you are bringing a smile to others’ faces and happiness inside!  Well, I’ve always loved funny greeting cards.  So years ago, I decided to throw my creative side into a new project and created a line of My Funny e-Cards – All Occasion Greeting e-Cards for all ages.  I had a blast coming up with ideas with silly tag-lines, then drawing them up!

Rejected

When I had enough cards, I submitted them to a known greeting card company.  Before long, I received the greeting card rejection ‘letter of death’.   I then lost my nerve to pursue it any further, got sidetracked with life, hence, I never did anything more with it.  That was in the days when it wasn’t very easy to self publish.  Instead, I began writing novels for kids and my heart is so in that.  But, I recently uncovered my cards again…

This year with my new Blog, I thought it was time to share them with you, friends.  Therefore, here’s the first and I’ll begin to share more with you soon.  (I will probably make them available for sale, as well, if y’all seem to like them.)

2017, February 2, Punxsutawney Phil has spoken! (In his own special way.)  A huge crowd of tens of thousands were in Gobblers Knob, Punxsutawney, Pa., this morning , as they waited with cold bated breath for Phil to do his thing.  Would he see his shadow?  Six more weeks of snow shovels and frosty breath or Spring Cleaning to look forward to? (Some wouldn’t mind putting off that!)

So… What’s the weather verdict for 2017?

WHELP!  Phil has predicted SIX MORE WEEKS OF THIS!  

And THIS………………………………

But there’s always THIS!    Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

And this… WINTER WONDERLAND

I try to find what I can SMILE about in most situations.

But Phil and Phil (Bill) are NOT looking too happy about all that SNOW!  OR, could it be something else?

Perhaps both these guys are feeling a bit disgruntled, as apparently, Phil bit Bill twice during shooting!  It is said they were severe enough that Murray needed anti rabies injections!  Ouch.  (Poor little Phil.  I’m referring to Groundhog Phil.  Can’t say I blame him.)     But yeah, also a bummer for Phil-Bill.

So fascinating to know what goes on behind the scenes we never know about!  Such as some of the pain and injury I went through while filming Troll 2 !   (Those stories to come!)

HOW DOES PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL DO IT?  

Now, back to the real Punxsutawney Phil story!  So, what’s all the shadow-seeing-weather-predicting stuff all about?  How does Phil do it?

   “You could say, IT’S MAGIC!”   Sing along, now.

Phil would probably rather be munching on clover in an early Spring, but his Shadow has ‘Spoken’!

 Staten Island Chuck, Staten Island’s own weather-predicting rodent, came to a warmer conclusion…  

So, who’s to know for sure?  Phil has been predicting the weather for 131 years!  It’s said he predicts longer winter about 80% of the time.  How often is he right?  Here’s a fun animation explanation.

EITHER WAY, it is amazing to me how quickly time flies.  Before I’m ready for it, Spring will be here.  I do look forward to tender buds the sweet songbird melodies.  I know winter has been hard on so many this year and I do hope that eases soon.

WINTRY Deja vu WONDERFUL

 The lovely Andie MacDowell and Bill Murray, both, at their finest, in my opinion.  I can’t imagine ANYONE else in these parts.  This film makes me giggle, cry, goose-bump and smile, and smile and smiiiiiiiiiiiiile.
